2012 CrossFit Games

The 2012 CrossFit Games Season is upon us. Here is a link to the 2012 beta website; http://games-beta.crossfit.com/ For those of you that do not know, we will be performing every CrossFit Open WOD at our gym already so you might as well join in on the fun. The Open is open to every skill level. Last year nearly 26,000 people participated in the Open. We already performed all 6 of the Open WOD’s from 2011 over the last few months. If you are interested in participating in the games on a competitive level or just as a fun test run please contact Coach Jared or Coach Peter to discuss what is needed between now and February 22nd (the start of the Open). As a warm up to the games or for those of you interested in testing your skill set there is a beginner to novice competition in Terre Haute, IN on Jan 28th. Please follow this link for more information. If you want more information again, please talk to Coach Jared or Peter. http://www.crossfit-competitions.com/2011/12/winter-challenge-012812/. ]]>

  1. My new jump rope is one of my best purchases yet of 2012. I love it and strongly encourage everyone to buy jump ropes at the gym. Coach Peter will fix it to your exact height specifications and you can even put your name on the handles. Something about having your own rope makes double unders seem so much easier. Or maybe I just feel that way because of all of the practice Ive been doing in my apartment late at night… My neighbors love it… Regardless, I highly recommend the new jump ropes!

  2. I made up Tuesday’s WOD tonight as is my weekly ritual.
I made it up to 68# on the push press for my 5 rep max.
For the bench press I had the following weights for the sequence (8-6-4-3-2-1-4+)
    53-63-73(failed)-73(failed)-68-73-63 (9x)
Both of the times I tried 73 and failed was because I got one less rep than the sequence called for. I attempted 83# as my one rep max 3x. I got pretty close, but just wasn’t able to get it. Next time:)
I had 28 pushups afterwards, but they were scaled to my knees. Even that was still killer!
